Workplace Safety Voluntary Self-Audits to Reduce Potential OSH Act Liability


Summary

This practice note provides guidance on conducting voluntary safety self-audits of the workplace to reduce potential liability under the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act) of 1970, as well as state Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) plans. The practice note mainly focuses on federal OSHA agency enforcement protocols; however, the guidance here applies equally to those employers located in jurisdictions governed by state OSHA plans.
