Uniform Trade Secrets Act (IP & Technology Glossary)

Summary

The vast majority of states have adopted some version of the Uniform Trade Secrets Act (UTSA), which defines what information constitutes a trade secret and prohibits trade secret misappropriation. The UTSA also provides for remedies for misappropriation, preservation of secrecy in litigation, a statute of limitations, and a preemption clause, among other things.
