UCC Article 7 Statutory Liens of Warehousemen and Carriers

This practice note addresses statutory liens that are available to warehousemen and carriers under Article 7 of the Uniform Commercial Code (UCC). A warehouse lien is one that is asserted by a warehouse operator over a customer’s goods that are stored in its warehouse to secure the warehouse’s costs relating to the storage and transportation of the goods. The UCC also provides transportation carriers with liens over goods in the carrier’s possession for amounts owed for their transportation services.
