Stipulation to Extend Discovery Deadline
(NJ)
Summary
This is a template Stipulation to Extend Discovery Deadline that parties to a New Jersey Superior Court case may use to memorialize an agreement to lengthen the time for responding to discovery. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and an optional clause. Parties may agree to extend the first discovery deadline by 60 days without court approval. N.J. Ct. R. 4:24-1(c). This can be done by this stipulation or by a writing signed by one party and copied to all parties, stating that all parties have agreed to the extension. N.J. Ct. R. 4:24-1(c). The request for the first extension must be filed before the expiration of the first discovery end date. Any longer extension or additional extensions after the expiration of the first 60-day extension, must be sought through motion practice. N.J. Ct. R. 4:24-1(c).
