Summary

This chart sets forth the statutes of limitations for many of the common types of civil actions in New Jersey. The list here is not exhaustive. Most of the applicable limitations periods are set forth in N.J.S.A. §§ 2A:14-1, 2A:14-2, 2A:14-3, and 2A:14-4. However, take care when researching statutes of limitations to be sure that you have ascertained all potentially applicable limitations periods.
