This practice note discusses the use of statements of work in master services agreements. A statement of work or ("SOW") is a document that is generally attached to a master services agreement as an incorporated exhibit. It provides a detailed description of the services being provided under the agreement. SOWs vary in content and complexity from one project to the next. There is no such thing as a "template" SOW. This practice note describes statements of work and outlines some of the common pitfalls associated with using them in a project.
