Summary

This checklist will summarize standard insurance policy forms, how policyholder and insurance company attorneys can best utilize the forms, and their background in regulatory and coverage disputes. Some of the arguments that lawyers on both sides of matters focus concern the same essential issues, for example, ambiguity or reasonable expectations, but the approach taken differs. In all cases, however, since courts are often unfamiliar with insurance history and jargon, it is necessary to educate them about the development of terminology, its usage, and principles of law governing interpretation and application to facts of the case.
