Social Media Consumers Recall Notice


Summary

This social media consumer recall notice can be posted on social media by a product manufacturer, distributor, or retailer subject to a defective product recall pursuant to the Consumer Product Safety Act, as amended, and the Consumer Product Safety Commission. It provides consumers with notice of the recall. This template includes practice guidance and drafting notes. All recall notices are subject to the CPSC's prior written approval (16 C.F.R. § 1115.29(c)). They are required to be issued whether the company admits to (1) the existence of an actual or potential hazard; and/or (2) the entirety of the information contained in the recall notice (16 C.F.R. § 1115.29). Note that this template sets forth the language requirements for drafting this notice, including use of the word "recall," "safety," and "urgent."
