Scottish oil field development paused as Shell pulls out after environmental criticism

MLex Summary: A controversial offshore oil development has been paused after criticism from environmental campaigners. Activists criticized the UK government for granting a permit to the Cambo oil field, which was being developed off the Shetland Islands, north of Scotland. Oil and gas company Shell pulled out of the project last week, and developers Siccar Point Energy today put the project on hold, in a sign that oil firms could see future obstacles even for already permitted sites.
