Rent Control & Low-Income Housing Tax Incentives State Law Survey

Summary

This survey addresses rent control mandates and prohibitions and tax incentives for low-income housing. Highlighted issues include prohibitions/state preemption on local rent control ordinances, including types of property and exemptions; local rent control ordinances permitted and regulations pertaining to such rent control ordinances; and tax credits, deductions, and/or exemptions for low-income housing. The survey covers all 50 U.S. states, the District of Columbia, Guam, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
