Remedies under Major Employment Laws Chart (WI)

Summary

This chart provides an overview of the remedies available under the major employment-related statutes in the state of Wisconsin. In particular, this chart summarizes the following relief: (1) economic and compensatory damages, which are intended to compensate plaintiffs or make them whole by restoring them to the place they would have been without the injury or violation; (2) punitive damages, which are used to punish wrongdoers by adding additional penalties; (3) attorney's fees and costs, which may be awarded to prevailing parties under certain statutes; (4) equitable relief, which is almost always nonmonetary in nature and includes restraining orders prohibiting defendants from continuing their harmful behavior; and (5) "other remedies," which captures anything that doesn't fit neatly into any of these categories, such as compensation for expert witness fees.
