Purchase Order
(Short Form)

Summary

This template is a short form purchase order that may be used to document the purchase of materials and/or equipment for a construction project. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and alternate and optional clauses. During the completion of a construction project, purchase orders are used by contractors and builders to request materials or services from third-party vendors, suppliers, or subcontractors. The purchase order defines the scope, price, delivery, and other terms of the purchased materials and/or services. Typically, the purchase order is prepared by the Buyer and submitted to the supplier, though there are times when the supplier prepares the purchase order with supplier-friendly terms. For additional purchase order forms see Purchase Order Terms and Conditions (Labor and Materials) and Purchase Order (Construction) (Long Form).
