Public Works Contract Awards State Law Survey


Summary

This 50-state survey addresses statutes and regulations related to the awarding of state public works contracts to private contractors, including contract announcement, bidding procedures, and prevailing wages; with analysis of utilization of companies owned by women, racial/ethnic minorities, disabled persons, and state agency discretion in the amount of security for bids. Highlighted issues include (1) bid security minimum; (2) minimum threshold for competitive bidding; and (3) goals/assistance for awarding public works contracts to (a) minorities, (b) women, (c) small businesses, and/or (d) disabled persons.
