This practice note discusses the different kinds and calculations for proofs of claims filed in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings. Unless scheduled as a noncontingent, liquidated claim, a creditor generally needs to file a proof of claim to receive a distribution from the bankruptcy estate.
