Platform as a Service Agreement

Summary

This precedent is a Platform as a Service ("PaaS") agreement, which includes practical guidance and drafting notes. PaaS is a cloud computing service in which modular bundles comprising a computing platform and one or more applications are supplied by a cloud platform provider. These modular bundles can be provisioned, instantiated, run and managed by customers, without the complexity of building and maintaining the associated infrastructure. Access to the platform service is provided over the internet, allowing customers use of the services for a fee. Counsel should note that PaaS agreements carry similar risks to other forms of outsourcing, such as service continuity, customer data protection and compliance with privacy laws.
