This practice note addresses Canadian laws and standards that apply to access of personal information in the private sector. These include privacy principles such as those found in case law, legislation such as the Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act, S.C. 2000, c. 5 (PIPEDA), as well as information such as guidance from the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
