Paid Time Off
(PTO) Policy (CO)
Summary
This template is a Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy that grants employees paid time off from work for a variety of reasons in lieu of an individual vacation policy, sick leave policy, or personal leave policy. This PTO Policy contains practical guidance, drafting notes, alternate clauses, and optional clauses. Note that the Healthy Families and Workplaces Act (HFWA) requires employers with 16 of more employees to provide employees with paid sick leave. Colo. Rev. Stat. § 8-13.3-401 et seq. This template has been edited to comply with the HFWA to help you draft policies affected by the HFWA. This template is intended for private employers. Employers may include this policy in an employee handbook or distribute it as a standalone policy. Its language has been customized to comply with Colorado and federal law. As a result, the text of this template differs from the non-jurisdictional Paid Time Off (PTO) Policy.
