This checklist offers steps for a company to take in creating and disseminating a request for proposal (RFP) when considering whether to outsource a department or function (which is increasingly referred to as "business process outsourcing (BPO)"). An outsourcing consists of several stages. The process and nomenclature vary (depending upon industry, company, and other factors), but generally will consist of the below stages, including assessment and planning, preparation (including the creation of an RFP), and vendor evaluation and selection.
