Summary

This practice note provides guidance on complying with federal Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSH Act) requirements and inspections and understanding defenses and potential citations for noncompliance. See 29 U.S.C. § 651 et seq. Employers subject to the OSH Act must keep their places of employment safe, maintain a workplace free from recognized hazards likely to cause death or serious harm to employees, and comply with all applicable occupational safety and health standards set by the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). 29 U.S.C. § 654(a).
