Summary

This template is a sample notice of service of discovery materials that needs to be filed with the court whenever you propound or respond to discovery in Maryland state court. See Md. Rule 2-401(d)(2). This template includes practical guidance and drafting notes. Discovery material is generally not filed with the court. Instead Md. Rule 2-401(d)(2) provides that a party generating discovery material shall serve it on all parties and file with the court a notice stating the type of material served, the date and manner of service, and the party or parties served. Md. Rule 20-206 requires that such notices be filed electronically. You must file the Md. Rule 2-401(d)(2) notice promptly after you serve the discovery material. See Atty. Griev. Comm'n v. Hermina, 379 Md. 503, 514 n3 (2004).
