Summary

This template is a distribution agreement between an independent distributor and a production company for the distribution of a single film. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, alternate clauses, and optional clauses. While independent motion picture production companies often make a deal with the distribution arms of a studio or major independent for distribution of their motion pictures (commonly called "output deals"), independent motion picture production companies must frequently resort to independent distribution companies. The following distribution agreement for all media provides a form of agreement between a production company or licensor and an independent distributor for the distribution of a single motion picture. The agreement is in the form of a letter from the distributor to the production company/licensor and is a "short form."
