This template is a generic memorandum of law you may use in a Minnesota district court civil case. Tailor it to the factual and legal circumstances of your case. The template includes practical guidance and drafting notes. A party seeking relief from the court should file a memorandum of law in support of its motion for relief. See Minn. Gen R. Prac. 115.03(a) and 115.04(a). Minnesota Rule of General Practice (Rules of Practice) 115 governs motion practice in Minnesota district court. Rule 115 requires a movant to file the following motion documents: • Notice of motion and motion • Supporting memorandum of law • Proposed order Minn. Gen. R. Prac. 115.03(a) and 115.04(a).
