Letter to Client (Mediation) (AB)


Summary

This letter can be used as a template to notify a client about their upcoming mediation proceeding. This precedent has been prepared in accordance with the Alberta Rules of Court, Alta. Reg. 124/2010 ("Rules"). It includes practical guidance, drafting notes, explanations and tips for drafting a letter to client regarding mediation. This template letter is intended to be used by a lawyer to advise and prepare their client regarding their mediation. It sets out the time, date, and location of the mediation. In addition, it briefly and succinctly sets out the basics of a mediation to provide the client with an idea of what to expect during the session. This precedent also provides some insight on the mediation session from the lawyer's perspective and experience, that is, that mediations are not one-sided and tend to focus more on the real issues between the parties as opposed to legal entitlements.
