Inventory, Appraisement, and List of Claims
(TX)
Summary
This Inventory, Appraisement and List of Claims template is an estate inventory, a copy of which should be filed with the Texas probate court within 90 days of the appointment of the executor of the estate. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and alternate clauses. The Texas Estates Code lays out the requirements for the inventory, including listing, as of the decedent's date of death, all of the estate's assets and their value, as well as monies due the estate. See Tex. Est. Code § 309.051 et seq. However, if the clients desire greater privacy, as of January 1, 2014, an affidavit may be filed in lieu of an inventory in certain circumstances. See Tex. Est. Code § 309.056. For an in-depth discussion of wills, see Purposes and Uses of a Will (TX) and Requisites, Instrumentation, and Will Provisions (TX).
