Insurance Issues after Dobbs Part V: Insureds, Health Plan Sponsors, and Individuals

Summary

This article discusses some of the ripple effects that the overruling of Roe v. Wade, 410 U.S. 113 (1973) by Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Org., 2022 U.S. LEXIS 3057 (2022) may be expected to have on health plan sponsors, corporate insurance policyholders and those insured under them, and individuals. Those affected may not necessarily have direct involvement with abortion but may play tangential roles. They may also have various tangential relationships with women seeking abortions, such as employers attempting to help them obtain one in another state by facilitating transportation. They may also be total strangers.
