Summary
After the trial court ordered petitioner community group against lawsuit abuse to disclose its contributors' names and denied petitioner's plea that respondent taxpayers did not have standing to bring suit, petitioner filed for writ of mandamus. On review, the court held that petitioner was not entitled to mandamus relief for the denial of its jurisdictional plea because petitioner failed to show that it lacked an adequate remedy by appeal. In conditionally granting mandamus relief with respect to the disclosure orders, the court held that the orders violated petitioner's right to freedom of association under U.S. amend. I. The court held that petitioner made a prima facie showing that the orders burdened its rights under U.S. amend. I. Specifically, petitioner submitted evidence that its supporters had been subject to boycott threats, and that individuals opposed to petitioner's agenda had boycotted the business establishments of persons affiliated with petitioner.
