LINDA CARTER GREENWAY v. INTERNATIONAL PAPER COMPANY and JIMMIE D. WILLIAMS, 144 F.R.D. 322
Summary
After reading the transcript of her deposition testimony, plaintiff sought to make 64 corrections to the deposition, arguing that her corrections were more accurate and complete, she subsequently recalled more accurate information, or she wished to clarify her answer. Defendants objected and filed a motion to suppress and nullify plaintiff's attempts, arguing that the corrections exceed the bounds permitted by Fed. R. Civ. P. 30(e). The court agreed and granted defendants' motion. The court held that the purpose of Rule 30(e) was to correct substantive errors made by a reporter, not to allow a person to alter what was said under oath.
