Freight Forwarding Agreement

Summary

This freight forwarding agreement is between a freight forwarder and a shipper looking to distribute its goods to a third party in the United States. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and alternate and optional clauses. A freight forwarder is an entity that organizes shipments on behalf of shippers without taking possession of the goods being shipped. The freight forwarding industry generally falls into three broad categories based on the specific mode of transportation utilized for the shipment of the customer's goods, namely ocean, surface, and air. Freight forwarders do not own their own trucks, ships, or planes. Rather, they purchase freight positions from the various carriers. This template is intended for use in domestic freight forwarding from and to locations within the United States.
