Summary

This practice note discusses the different kinds of franchise relationships that are most prevalent in the United States, defines and describes the features of such relationships, and discusses the advantages and disadvantages of each relationship. It is estimated that there are some 775,000 franchise establishments doing business in the Unites States that are collectively generating revenues of approximately $780 billion and employing over eight million people.
