Financial Assistance Policy Compliance Checklist (Hospitals and Health Systems)

Summary

This checklist assists tax-exempt, nonprofit hospitals and health systems in preparing their financial assistance programs. Under I.R.C. § 501(r)(4), the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) requires that nonprofit hospitals and healthcare facilities establish a financial assistance policy (FAP) for emergency and other medically necessary care to support patients who are unable to pay for that care.
