Summary

This template is a family and medical leave policy that sets forth the rights and obligations of employees taking family and medical leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act and Military Family Leave under Indiana law. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and alternate and optional clauses. This template is intended for private employers. Employers may include this policy in an employee handbook or distribute it as a standalone policy. The templates 's language complies with federal law. It does not differ from the non-jurisdictional Family and Medical Leave Policy (with Acknowledgment) as Indiana does not have a law that requires an employer to offer additional forms of family and medical leave to employees. However, as addressed below by Optional Paragraph , Indiana has a Military Family Leave Law which allows family members of persons ordered to active duty to take leave before or after the relative's activity or while the relative is on leave from active duty.
