Summary

This template is an Alabama compliant family and medical leave policy (FMLA policy) that sets forth the rights and obligations of employees taking family and medical leave under the federal Family and Medical Leave Act. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and an alternate clause. In addition to the federal FMLA, the Alabama Adoption Promotion Act provides leave for employees for the birth or adoption of children. The act entitles eligible employees to leave for the birth and care for their child within one year of the birth, and for care of child placed through adoption within one year of the placement. 2022 Al. SB 31. This template is intended for private employers and may be included in an employee handbook or distributed as a standalone policy. The language complies with Alabama and federal law.
