Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Issues for Managers: Training Presentation

Summary

This is a presentation to provide training for managers on how to comply with the requirements of the federal Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The FLSA's many rules, exemptions, and unique provisions for particular kinds of employees or industries makes it one of the more complex of all federal employment laws. The topics in this presentation include the law's coverage, minimum wage and overtime requirements, recordkeeping requirements, exemptions, child labor restrictions, and enforcement provisions. The guidance in this presentation is particularly relevant in light of the ongoing significant amount of FLSA collective action litigation, as demonstrated in the graphic below. It is critical that presenters review and address state and local law requirements as the FLSA does not preempt state or local wage and hour provisions imposing more stringent requirements than the FLSA. This training is intended for private employers. It includes speaker notes to facilitate your presentation.
