Equal Employment Opportunity Policy

Summary

This template is an equal employment opportunity policy for use by Nevada employers. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, and optional clauses. Nevada's Equal Opportunities for Employment statute (NEOE), Nev. Rev. Stat. Ann. §§ 613.310–613.435, protects employees from discrimination, harassment, and retaliation. Any person who employs fifteen or more employees for each working day in each of twenty or more calendar weeks in the current or preceding calendar year must comply with the NEOE. Any person injured by an unlawful employment practice under the NEOE may bring a claim. Nev. Rev. Stat. Ann. § 613.405. Specifically, the statute prohibits discrimination against a person on the basis of the following: • Race (including traits associated with race, including hair texture and protective hairstyles) • Color • Sex • Sexual orientation • Gender identity or expression • Age with regard to individuals forty years of age or older • Disability • Religion • National origin • The person's use of lawful products • Genetic testing/genetic information Nev.
