Summary
This checklist addresses the steps that you should take to effectively respond to an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charge of discrimination (charge), including sexual harassment. The process of responding to an EEOC charge begins when the EEOC forwards a copy of the charge to the employer to ask the employer to submit a response. Before doing so, the EEOC has, or should have, already conducted a preliminary review and determined that a charge alleges basic facts for the EEOC to find discrimination and/or retaliation and that the EEOC has jurisdiction.
