Developing a Corporate Social Responsibility Supply Chain Compliance Program

Summary

This practice note addresses the development of a corporate social responsibility (CSR) plan to specifically address supply chain issues. CSR is a philosophy that a business entity has certain societal obligations beyond the bottom line of its owners—obligations to be a good citizen. It is an acknowledgement that stakeholders aside from the business entity's owners are affected by the business entity's decisions, including employees, local communities, and society at large. The implementation of CSR cannot be left to corporate mantras that are little more than feel-good measures. It requires a game plan.
