Data Security Requirements State Law Survey

Summary

This survey provides an overview of state data security requirements applicable to covered private entities that own or maintain personal information or sensitive personal information of consumers. Data security requirements are commonly found within states' breach notification laws, identity theft protection laws, or, for those states that have them, comprehensive consumer privacy laws. Data security requirements specific to the insurance industry are outside of the scope of this survey.
