DOL Wage and Hour Investigation Checklist (Preparing for Employee Interviews)

Summary

As part of a wage and hour investigation, the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL) will evaluate the employer by interviewing both managers and hourly paid employees to determine job duties, hours of work, the employer's policies, pay practices, and other relevant information. Although the DOL generally has a right to conduct employee interviews, that right is not absolute. Employers and employees also have rights throughout the interview process. This checklist will help you prepare employers and employees to exercise those rights and successfully navigate the interview process.
