Summary
This template is a Computers, Mobile Phones, and Other Electronic Devices Policy Acknowledgment for use by an employer to ensure employees understand that they are responsible for company-owned devices, should not expect privacy when using them, and may be disciplined for misusing and/or failing to secure them. This template includes practical guidance and drafting notes. This template is intended for private employers. It is based on federal law and does not address all potential state law distinctions; thus, you should check any relevant state and local laws. The acknowledgment form should be signed by the employee and placed in the employee's personnel file. Should litigation ensue, this signed acknowledgment form will bolster the employer's position that it had a right to monitor and respond to the employee's activities involving company-owned devices.
