Commission Payment State Law Survey (Including upon Termination of Employment)

Summary

This survey provides a summary of laws in all 51 U.S. jurisdictions (including the District of Columbia) governing a private employer's payment of commissions to an employee after termination of employment. It serves to guide employers' practices and policies concerning paying commissions upon termination of employment in the jurisdictions in which they operate. This survey does not discuss laws that apply exclusively to outside commissioned salespersons who work as independent contractors or to real estate brokers.
