Bid Protest in Government Contracts (GAO)

As the largest procurer of goods and services in the world, the contracting opportunities with the United States federal government provide organizations with sustained, consistent demand for goods and services. Procurements of large dollar value or multi-year procurements can often result in the profitability of businesses for the contract duration. Competition for government dollars is fierce and contracting decisions can represent the continued success or failure of an organization. Further, offerors expect the government's contracting decisions, utilizing taxpayer dollars, will be undertaken fairly, legally, impartially and with transparency. Therefore, the federal government seeks to ensure the public that its contracting award decisions are fair, reasonable, and adequately documented. However, there are circumstances where offerors may have a different perspective of the process.
