This practice note discusses bankruptcy fraud and the consequences of committing such fraud. The bankruptcy system was designed in the spirit of full disclosure, with the honest debtor in mind. The Bankruptcy Code and the Bankruptcy Rules were written to reward the honest debtor with a fresh start and to punish the dishonest debtor.
