Summary

This precedent is a letter sent by the personal representative of the estate to the financial institution with which the deceased had accounts and/or assets. It includes practical guidance, drafting notes and alternate clauses. This precedent outlines at the outset of the distribution of the estate, in detail, what the personal representative requires from the financial institution with which the deceased had accounts and/or assets. The personal representative must prepare a full inventory of all assets owned by the deceased on death in order to identify them and properly secure them during the estate administration. This letter includes a notarial copy of the will as well as the testator's death certificate. Alternatively, if there is no will, it includes a notarial copy of the certificate of appointment of estate trustee without a will.
