Appellant physician challenged an intermediate appellate panel's decision reinstating appellee patient's victory in her medical malpractice lawsuit. The court affirmed. Appellee suffered a stroke following an abortion, and sued two physicians, including appellant. The lawsuit against appellant asserted that he had negligently given her a hormone injection while she was pregnant, with that injection resulting in her stroke. A jury held for appellee, but the trial judge overturned that decision insofar as appellant was concerned, concluding there was insufficient evidence that appellant's negligence was the proximate cause of appellee's stroke. The panel then reinstated the jury's verdict. In upholding the panel's decision, the court held that there was indeed sufficient evidence that appellant's conduct was the proximate cause of appellee's stroke.
