Assignment of Property to Revocable Trust
(PA)
Summary
This is a template for an assignment of property to a Pennsylvania revocable trust. It is suitable for use during the initial funding of the trust. Use this template to transfer untitled personal property of the grantor of the trust (called the "assignor" here) to a trust at the time that the trust is established. This template includes practical guidance and drafting notes. This template is not suitable for all transfers of personal property. Transfers of titled assets, such as motor vehicles, real property, and certain bank accounts, require separate, individual assignments to have legal effect. This template should also not be used to transfer property encumbered by debt. Funding a trust is a multi-step process, as summarized in the below image. Keep a copy of this document with the revocable trust agreement, and update Schedule A of the trust to reflect the property that has been assigned. For detailed instructions on funding a revocable trust, see Letter to Client (Funding Revocable Trust) (PA).
