Amendment to Retail Lease Agreement

Summary

This template is an amendment to a retail lease agreement that is used to document any amendments or modifications to the original lease agreement that have been agreed to by landlord and tenant. This template includes practical guidance, drafting notes, optional clauses, and an alternate clause. Lease amendments are used to address any changes in the terms of the lease or circumstances between the parties that arise after the original lease has been fully executed. Most leases require that any amendments to the lease be in writing. Therefore, the lease amendment should be in writing, signed by the parties to the original lease (or their successors or assigns), and should clearly and concisely set forth the agreed upon changes to the original lease. In addition, it is helpful if the title of each amendment is numbered and includes a recital listing all prior amendments to the lease. This template may be tailored to suit each transaction.
