Summary

Pa. R.C.P. 1533(d) provides that:

Except as otherwise provided by an Act of Assembly,1Link to the text of the note a receiver, whether temporary or permanent, must give such security for the faithful performance of his duty as the court shall direct. A receiver shall not act until he has given the security required.

The requirement of a bond for the faithful performance of the receiver’s duty applies across the board to permanent receivers and to temporary receivers appointed whether appointed with or without notice. The plaintiff’s bond required by Pa. R.C.P. 1533(a) in connection with the appointment of a temporary receiver without notice is a separate requirement from the receiver’s bond.
