Registered Investment Adviser: Reviewing a Compliance Program

Summary

This practice note discusses how to review a compliance program required by the Investment Advisers Act of 1940, as amended (Advisers Act). The Advisers Act makes it unlawful for an investment adviser that is registered, or required to be registered, with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (the SEC) to provide investment advice without a compliance program in place that satisfies certain requirements (a Compliance Program).
