Summary

COVID-19 has brought a flood of bulletins, regulations and rapidly enacted legislation that affects health, workers' compensation, and life carriers in significant ways. These health, life, and workers' compensation insurers are facing compliance directives and financial challenges, the combined effect of which could threaten even major companies with insolvency. In this series of four articles, important COVID-19 guidance, bulletins, and regulations are discussed to help practitioners understand how fundamental these changes are and help clients navigate (or leverage) this new layer of compliance. Part I discusses impacts to the entire insurance operations continuum. Part II examines changes to licensing requirements for insurance intermediaries and for insureds plus new rules about premiums, notice, and cancellations. This Part III explores developments relating to life / health insurance and workers' compensation. Part IV addresses proposed laws on business interruption insurance.
