CCPA Compliance: Comparing Key Provisions of the GDPR and CCPA

This practice note compares how the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) address key privacy and data protection compliance issues. As the most comprehensive privacy law to be enacted in the United States thus far, the CCPA has inevitably invited comparisons to the European Union’s (EU) GDPR. At first glance, the provisions of the CCPA (and the ballot measure that spurred its passage) appear to align with the compliance obligations set out in the GDPR.
